The Executive Overview is typically a two day, hands-on introduction to Lean Six Sigma with a strong emphasis on the specific roles, responsibilities, and actions that members of the senior leadership team (SLT) should take part in.
The session is limited to the SLT and sometimes a few direct reports. It is critical to have open and candid discussions about specific issues facing the organization to help develop a clear vision for a Lean Six Sigma transformation.
Champion/Sponsor training is typically a 2.5 or 4 day, hands-on program for managers at any level in the organization charged with overseeing Lean Six Sigma project teams.
This program is more in-depth than the Executive Overview and is designed to give the manager a solid understanding of the DMAIC / Lean and DFSS problem-solving methodology.
Most importantly, it provides a basis for knowing how to manage project teams and what to expect during the normal course of Lean Six Sigma projects.
In spite of an organization’s best efforts and best intentions, we still routinely see project “failure” rates of 30% to 50% using a “bottoms up” approach to project selection.
Under proper leadership, most organizations tolerate this failure rate through the first couple of waves of training. Eventually, management learns that a well-honed project selection process is vital to continuing success.
The Project Selection Workshop is designed to help organizations leap-frog the painful learning curve by applying time-proven techniques for selecting and qualifying projects. Companies executing these techniques are approaching 96% project success rates.
